GE PNG Emerging Leaders Fellowship opportunity

The Lowy Institute in Sydney is offering an exciting opportunity for a young Papua New Guinean to spend 4-6 weeks as the GE PNG Emerging Leaders Fellow in the Institute’s Melanesia Program. The Fellowship is designed to help foster professional development, build Australian networks and improve research and communication skills. This Fellowship is a fully funded opportunity (travel, visa, accommodation and a per diem).

There is no specific professional profile for the preferred applicant, but a competitive candidate will typically be either a promising junior to mid-career professional or an exceptional postgraduate student with wider experience and demonstrated interests in international politics, economics, public policy, innovation and technology.

The Lowy Institute is inviting applications from Papua New Guineans aged under forty years who are recognised by their organisations as showing drive and initiative and have the potential to make a significant contribution to their communities. The successful applicant will possess at least an undergraduate degree and good writing skills, as we will be asking them to write for the Lowy Institute’s website’s The Interpreter and the Australia-Papua New Guinea Network.

The deadline is Friday 19 August 2016 and applications should be sent to AKirk@lowyinstitute.org. Applications must include a CV, cover letter, two referee contacts and a 500-800 word article on a policy issue relevant to PNG.
